With New Year’s fast approaching, now is a great time to look back at everything we accomplished this year. Whether you scored a big promotion or graduated from university, now’s the time to reflect on what you knocked out of the park and how you can improve next year.
If you’re a trophy hunter, you probably want to see how many platinum trophies you’ve earned this year. The annual PlayStation Wrap-Up is here to answer all your data-related questions! Once you know where you stand in 2024, you can start setting goals for what you’d like to accomplish in 2025.
In this post, you will learn what the PlayStation Wrap-Up is, how to get ahold of yours, and a detailed analysis of the author’s statistics for 2024. Can you guess what PlayStation game comprised our favorite trophy hunt of the year?

What is PlayStation Wrap-Up?
PlayStation Wrap-Up is a service Sony runs on an annual basis to share personalized statistics and facts about how PlayStation players used their consoles throughout the year. It typically includes how many hours were played, the number of games launched, and the top games by playtime over the entire year. This information can also be viewed by month.
Technically, the very first year-in-review campaign was sent directly to players’ emails in 2017. The official website was launched in 2018 and has been maintained ever since. We now have the pleasure of viewing detailed information about our gaming sessions in December of every year.
There are a few quirks regarding the PlayStation Wrap-Up that all trophy hunters should be aware of. Unfortunately, content within the PlayStation Wrap-Up does not account for playtime on older generations of consoles, including the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. Additionally, the service isn’t 100% accurate in its logging, so there may be some errors in your data. If you need perfectly accurate data for further analysis, you may need to do your own timekeeping. Otherwise, the PlayStation Wrap-Up can be a fun way to gain some insight into your trophy hunting exploits over the last year!

My Year-in-Review

2024 was a great year for my trophy hunting efforts. I earned a staggering 1,277 trophies, boosting my trophy level from 451 to 486. That’s an average of 3.50 trophies per day! Given my account’s long-term average of 2.43 trophies earned per day, that’s a huge improvement.
Although the PlayStation Wrap-Up claims I earned 30 platinum trophies, I actually earned 36. The discrepancy is because I completed several games on the PlayStation 3 that were not accounted for in my statistics, plus I earned another platinum trophy after running the data. The games I completed in 2024 are below, ordered by date achieved:
- Persona 3 Portable
- Oxenfree II: Lost Signals
- Oneshot
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge
- Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution
- Cyberpunk 2077
- Tales of Symphonia Remastered
- Alan Wake II
- Death Mark
- Resident Evil 5
- Titanfall 2
- Digimon Story Cybersleuth: Hacker’s Memory
- The Legend of Dragoon
- The Sims 3
- Ghostwire: Tokyo
- Crymachina
- Heart of the Woods
- Digimon All-Star Rumble
- Returnal
- Poison Control
- Voice of Cards: The Forsaken Maiden
- Runner
- Little Noah: Scion of Paradise
- In Sound Mind
- Spirit Hunter: NG
- Assassin’s Creed Origins
- Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World
- Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
- Mass Effect 2
- Mass Effect 3
- Persona 5 Tactica
- Naughty Bear
- Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy
- Mass Effect
- Diablo III: Reaper of Souls
- Destiny
If you’d like to know my thoughts about any of these games that haven’t explicitly been covered in an article, my entire trophy list can be found on this page. I provide either a recommendation or brief explanation for why to avoid each title.

In 2024, I started gaming right off the bat on New Year’s Day. The first game I played was Tales of Symphonia Remastered, a classic JRPG originally released 20 years ago. I also balanced playing new games with older ones, as I played a nearly even split of PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 games.
The PlayStation Wrap-Up claims I played 63 games this year for a lifetime total of 228 games, but these numbers don’t include PlayStation 3 or PlayStation Vita titles. If you include them, I actually played 70 games this year for a lifetime total of 258 games. That means I played approximately 27% of my games at least once in 2024.

In order to earn so many trophies, I played on my PlayStation 5 console for 1,636 hours. This was derived from 858 play sessions and 63 games in total. That means I played an average of 2 hours per play session and averaged about 26 hours per game. I also spent approximately 31 hours per week gaming, which tracks as it’s my primary hobby.
It’s worth noting that I also played about 10 hours on the PSVR2 not shown here. In addition, I played several PlayStation 3 games this year that are not included in the statistics: Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution, The Sims 3, Digimon All-Star Rumble, Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World, and Naughty Bear. You can safely add at least 200-300 hours to my total playtime from these titles, although I don’t have the exact numbers as they are not recorded by the console.
There was also one PlayStation Vita title that I had not put a significant number of hours into yet. That game is Tales of Hearts R.

My top 5 games of the year don’t surprise me at all. I fully completed all of Destiny’s trophies (including DLC) this year and became heavily side-tracked doing more than I needed to. I raised all my characters to the maximum light level, fully unlocked all sub-class skill trees, pushed my Grimoire score to 4,500, and enjoyed additional content not necessarily required for its achievements. I had a lot of fun in the process, even though it wasn’t the most efficient way to play.
Tales of Symphonia Remastered is also an incredibly tedious platinum trophy to obtain, as it requires at least 6 full playthroughs of the game. Since it’s a JRPG, you can see why the total playtime is so high.
The Mass Effect trilogy is grouped together since all three games are bundled in the same launcher. These are long RPG games with extensive trophy requirements, so it makes sense that I spent a decent amount of time in that world while completing Shepard’s story.
The Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy is yet another collection of three games. These are fairly lengthy visual novel games, so spending around 30 hours per title checks out.
Lastly, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey’s world is massive. Naturally, earning all its trophies takes quite a lot of time. I also earned all of the DLC achievements which likely bumped the total playtime up significantly.
Several PlayStation 3 games probably would have made this list if they were included in the PlayStation Wrap-Up statistics. I know for a fact that I spent at least 100-120 hours in Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World. Like the original game, it required multiple lengthy playthroughs for the platinum trophy.
I also spent a large amount of time on Digimon All-Star Rumble due to poor RNG and inane trophy requirements. While earning its platinum trophy, I decided to create detailed maps and spreadsheets to help others in the future. As you can imagine, this likely added substantially to my total hours in the game.
My PlayStation Wrap-Up summary adds one interesting detail not yet discussed: multiplayer hours. I was surprised to see mine showed only 35 hours in total. This is blatantly incorrect since I spent far more than that simply doing strikes, raids, and other strictly multiplayer content in Destiny this year. I also earned all of Resident Evil 5 and Naughty Bear’s online trophies. If I had to guess, I’d say I spent around 100-200 hours in online multiplayer content this year. If local multiplayer counted, the number would be even higher.
Monthly Breakdown

There are quite a few standout months in my breakdown. January was my top month of the year, where I apparently logged a staggering 270 hours. To be honest, I think that may be an error. Otherwise, I don’t have any excuse for myself besides the fact that I had a lot of free time over the holidays.
April might seem rather light in hours logged since I played on my PlayStation 3 more heavily. I’m not sure why it also shows a crazy 60+ games played that month, as I think I’d remember something that unusual.
I also had surgery this year, so I was fairly indisposed for a few weeks.
Of these titles, I wrote about my trophy hunting experience in The Legend of Dragoon and Diablo III: Reaper of Souls. I loved both, but one overstayed its welcome.
I also recently discovered that the sequels to Monster Prom were released on PlayStation consoles this year. Although I didn’t think I’d want to play another game like that again, I somehow felt the urge to go for it. So, you can expect a full article with resources for both games once I’ve finished them myself. I intend to provide a complete breakdown like I did with the original Monster Prom: XXL.
My Game of the Year
I’ve played a lot of games this year. I bounced between old and new games of all genres while hunting for trophies. Some were amazing adventures, and others were painful lessons. But what video game was my favorite?
Seeing as I’ve played 70 games this year and earned 36 platinum trophies, it’s difficult to choose one to stand above the rest. After all, so many of my trophy hunts this year were hidden gems.
But if I had to pick one, it has to be…

I’m a big sucker for the Tales series. I have yet to find a game in the series that has disappointed me, as they always have something special that keeps me invested. Whether it’s in its combat mechanics, story themes, or vibrant cast of characters, every title has had its strengths.
However, I went into Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World with low expectations. It was my understanding from the community that it was a weaker entry in the series. I’d read comments about how the combat was bad, the characters were annoying, the returning cast from the first game were horribly mischaracterized, and so on.
While some of these criticisms have their merits, I don’t believe they justify harsh condemnations of the game. I was incredibly surprised with what Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World had to offer.
I didn’t grow up with the original Tales of Symphonia, so when I finally played it last year I came away from it feeling pretty underwhelmed. It was a fun game that I enjoyed playing, but it wasn’t the juggernaut I thought it would be for the series. However, its sequel helped me retroactively fall in love with its world. I loved the new characters, the music, its focus on romance… I could go on, but I don’t want to spoil the experience for anyone who hasn’t played it.
I’ve earned nearly every platinum trophy in the series, but this one will probably always hold a special place in my heart. It may not be my all-time favorite Tales game, but it’s a contender. One of these days, I plan to do a detailed write-up on my experience trophy hunting in every game of the series.
Outside of Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World, other favorites this year would be Alan Wake 2 and The Legend of Dragoon. They were both incredibly memorable experiences that had great trophy lists.
Goals for Next Year
In 2024, I set a few unofficial goals for myself:
- Create the Plat Rat Trophy Hunters website.
- My goal with the blog was twofold: create resources to help others earn achievements, and entertain trophy hunters with topical content. I feel proud with what I’ve accomplished with the website this year, and I hope that you’ve found something of value here too!
- Earn a platinum trophy at least every two weeks.
- This isn’t a strict rule, but I do find myself getting antsy when I haven’t made much progress toward my goals.
- There have been plenty of times when long and/or difficult games have kept me busy for more than two weeks, but those have generally been balanced out by shorter experiences. It also helps that I jump between many different games at once, as it affords me more freedom in which platinum trophy I can unlock next.
- With 36 platinum trophies unlocked this year, I spent an average of 1.44 weeks per platinum trophy unlocked.
- Get my completion rate above 70%.
- My long-term goal is to get my completion rate above 90%.
- I started 2024 at around a 60% completion rate.
- I’ve made a point to go back and clear older titles on my backlog and not get too carried away buying new ones, so I managed to achieve my goal! As of this writing, I’m just shy of a 77% completion rate.
- Complete specific “White Whale” games.
- There are a few games that have been haunting me for years that I wanted to complete for good. The biggest offenders I wanted to tackle in 2024 were Destiny and Naughty Bear.
- Destiny was the first game I played on my PlayStation 4 a decade ago. Naturally, it was also the game where I unlocked my very first trophy. At the time, I didn’t bother with any of the multiplayer content, thus locked me out of many achievements. However, I finally managed to complete all 100% of its trophies this year.
- Naughty Bear was another game that I had a history with. I first played it about 10-12 years ago on the Xbox 360 and had a blast with it. I decided to pick it up again in 2020 on a whim. Since my copy was on the PlayStation 3 this time, I knew I’d have to complete its trophies eventually. Although a bit late, I finally crossed it off my list in 2024.
- There are a few games that have been haunting me for years that I wanted to complete for good. The biggest offenders I wanted to tackle in 2024 were Destiny and Naughty Bear.
Looking back on my goals for the last year, I managed to knock out quite a few of them. That’s why I intend to up the ante even more for 2025. Below are what I hope to accomplish next year:
- Earn a platinum trophy at least every two weeks.
- I don’t intend to change this goal because I don’t enjoy playing shovelware titles. Upping the rate of platinum trophies achieved would eventually require these kinds of games to keep up.
- Get my completion rate above 85%.
- This might be a stretch goal since many of the games remaining on my backlog are either incredibly long, difficult, or impossible to complete at this point.
- A side goal I’d like to do in the same vein as my completion rate is to cut down on the incomplete games on my list. Right now, I have 66 games on my profile that are incomplete. I’d love to see that drop to 50 in 2025.
- Getting a nearly 10% boost (from 77% to 85%) to my completion rate seems tough, but I’d like to see it happen in 2025. This would get me one step closer to my long-term goal of a 90% completion rate.
- Complete specific “White Whale” games.
- In 2025, I want to wrap up more games that have been haunting me. The titles of most interest to me this upcoming year are:
- Monster Roadtrip, to complete the Monster Prom series;
- Tales of Hearts R, to get one step closer to completing the Tales series;
- Okami HD, which I unceremoniously dropped years ago after making a dire mistake that will cost me an additional playthrough. With the announcement of a sequel, I want to finally return to this title.
- In 2025, I want to wrap up more games that have been haunting me. The titles of most interest to me this upcoming year are:
- Reach 200 total platinum trophies.
- This is my next big trophy hunting milestone. Currently, I’m at 174 platinum trophies acquired, meaning I just need 26 more!
- Hit PlayStation level 500.
- I’m currently at PlayStation level 486, which is only 14 levels under my goal for next year.
- This doesn’t seem like much, but the higher level you get, the more points you need to earn to continue climbing the ranks. At level 500, I won’t have a gold border yet, but I will be one step closer.
Reflection
Overall, I’m pleased with the trophies I’ve earned this year. Not only did I get above 75% completion in all my games, but I also dispatched several titles that were important to me. I hope to keep up the momentum next year with more platinum trophies!
